Honey, a giant catfish ate my hat!!!!

Last week a customer came back into the marina from an unbelievable day of boating with his friends (nice warm February day in Texas with no wind).  He told me that a giant catfish ate his hat, and it made such a gigantic splash that everyone on the front of his boat got wet.

I was curious as to how/why a catfish would eat a hat and thought it to be a joke.  He told me they were boating along in the middle of the lake, not too far from Twin Points Park heading towards the Dam, when his hat blew off.  As he was maneuvering his boat to retrieve his new hat, a giant catfish came up from underneath it at a high rate of speed, swallowed the hat, came completely out of the water by several feet, and then made a monster splash just off the starboard bow.

Still skeptical I asked…”just how big do you think this catfish was?”  His reply…..likely hundreds of pounds…..then he showed me this picture.  It would surely take a catfish weighing well more than a hundred pounds to produce a splash like that.   While no one on board was quite ready for this type of excitement, and missed taking a picture of the fish, one passenger did get a great picture of the splash and his friend that was about to reach over the side of the boat and pick up the hat.  As you can see…his friend got soaked.

The bottom line…..  Please come on out to beautiful Eagle Mountain Lake.  The likely world record catfish could be your next catch!  If you don’t have a boat….we will be happy to sell you a new SeaArk with a Suzuki Outboard rigged out perfectly for catfishing.  So come on out to Lakeview Boating Center and test drive your new SeaArk today.  If you need a professional catfishing guide, we know one of the best and he works out of Lakeview Marina, check out his website at www.catfishedge.com.  And, if a catfish eats your hat…we can sell you a new one of those too out of our fully stocked ships store!
